1 min read

Users can do self verification to ensure that the cut and fill value in the cut section matches what’s reflected in the cut and fill report in the End Area Method.

Case 1: Cut and Fill from Earthwork Module #

Project sample here

For easier manual checking, users can display cut section and end area excel report side by side. Right click on the tab and select “New Vertical Document Group”

Users can check the cut and fill value side by side. From the image below, we can see that the cut and fill value tally on both cut section and end area excel report.

Cut and Fill value for End Area 1-16 is the same in cut section and excel report

Case 2: Combined Cut and Fill from Earthwork Module and Road Module #

Project sample here

If road design is created under Road Module, click on Generate Platforms and then click Generate Slopes.

Click “Yes” to generate road platforms to include road earthwork in overall cut and fill calculation

Once slope has been generated, the cut and fill area computations will be displayed as below.

Cut and Fill value for End Area 1-16 is same in cut section and excel report

Cut section of End Area 1-16 – Road Platform and Subgrade layer will be displayed in the cut section under EW Module.

It is worth noting that the cut and fill calculation in Earthwork Module is calculated from Original Ground Level (OGL) until the desired earthwork level/ platform level. When road platforms are included (road added in Road Module), the cut and fill will be calculated based on road finished level.
