MiTS Intranet Manager Advanced (MIMA) Installation and Setup

8 min read

Starting from MiTS version 3.2, we have launched a new and enhanced MiTS Intranet License Manager engine, referred to as MiTS Intranet Manager Advanced (MIMA).

This latest version features an updated user interface while keeping the familiar functionality for connecting client machines to the server of the previous engine.

This guide outlines the procedure for setting up the license on both the server manager and the client (engineer’s machine), applicable for MiTS 3.2.24.0 and above.

How to set up a server license manager #

Installation of NetKey License Server (NKLS) #

  1. Download the core NetKey License Service (NKLS) from here. Extract the folder before installing the application on your server machine.

  1. Check that the client machine is connecting to the specific server port (1245), type

Test-NetConnection -Port 1245 -ComputerName “server name

Note:

  • for “server name”, you can use i) server computer name or ii) server IP address

  • The connection is successful if the Test-NetConnection resulted TcpTestSucceeded is True

Launching MiTS 3.2 software #

Server Machine #

Users need to ensure the MiTS Intranet Manager Advanced (MIMA) and the NetKey License Server (NKLS) are launched.

Note: The NKLS should always be opened on the server machine to ensure the client’s machine can be connected to the server at all times.

What will be displayed on the server machine? #

Users will be able to view the information of the server, license activated, and the current users, such as below.

Authentication Checking #

  1. Launch MiTS software > Click on Help Tab

  1. Click on the Authentication function > An Authentication Dialog will appear as in the image below

Roaming License #

For individuals who require access to our MiTS software without being connected to the office server – for instance, when working remotely or participating in meetings away from the office – they have the option to configure the license to “roam” from the server. Therefore, the license will be transformed into a floating type, eliminating the need for a constant connection to the server.

Please keep in mind that the checked-out “roaming” license will still reduce the total license pool, which means one less license will be available for users in the office until it is returned.

Steps to check out the license #

  1. In MiTS software, go to Help Tab > Click on Authentication

  1. Click the Checkout/Return License button > The Software will prompt for Roaming Period. Users can input how many days are required for the roaming period, as in the image below.

  1. Click Checkout > Software will prompt the operation to be successful as in below > Click Ok to close all the dialogs

  1. On the server machine, the connection type for the machine set with a roaming license will look as in the image below.

Steps to return the license #

Note: Returning the license will require the machine to be connected to the server when accessing the MiTS software.

  1. In MiTS software, click on the Help tab > Click on the Authentication button

  1. Under the Authentication dialog, click on Checkout/Return button > Software will notify user that the operation done will return the license to the server

Troubleshooting Guides: #

Steps to resolve: #

  1. Go to the directory – C:\Program Files (x86)\MES Innovation Sdn Bhd\MiTS Intranet Manager Adv

  1. Click on MiTS Intranet Manager Adv.

  1. Once the application above has been run, the NKLS will be launched. If we go to the system tray at the bottom, the MIMA icon will appear.

Receiving error message when launching MIMA and NKLS #

Cause(s) of the error: #

  • The machine was detected as an unauthorized user due to the missing Username and Password for the NKLS

Steps to resolve: #

  1. Go to the NKLS dialog, click on Server Tab > Click on Properties

  1. Under the NetKey Manager Authentication, input the User and Password as below

  • User: Administrator
  • Password: Administrator

  1. Click Apply and Click OK. Try to relaunch MIMA; the errors above are no longer reproducible.

Could not activate/update license due to missing Ekc3220.dll file #

Steps to resolve: #

  1. Ensure MIMA is properly closed on the server’s machine.

  1. Download the Ekc3220.dll file from here.

  1. Copy the file > Paste it under this directory – C:\Program Files (x86)\MES Innovation Sdn Bhd\MiTS Intranet Manager Adv

  1. During Step 3, users need to allow the file to be pasted by clicking Continue.

  1. Relaunch MIMA > Try to click on the Activate/Update License button > The error above will no longer be reproducible.

What if I constantly get a “Hardlock Error’ message when I launch the software? #

Possible cause(s) of the error: #

  • Silently changing the IP address
  • Incorrect IP address is set in the NetKey.ini file of the MiTS Program Files
  • Disconnected network on the server machine
  • Unable to reach the host (Server)

Steps to resolve: #

Step 1: Ensure the network on the server is already connected #

  1. On the server machine, ensure both MIMA and NKLS are launched.

  1. On the MIMA dialog, click on the Server Tab > Click Connect

  1. Relaunch the software on client’s machine

Step 2: Check the IP address of the server #

  1. On the server machine > Go to Search Panel > Search for cmd > Run as administrator

  1. Type in ipconfig under the command prompt

  1. Ensure the IP address set in the NKLS.ini file of the MiTS Program files is the same as the IP address obtained from the above workaround

Directory: C:\Program Files\MES Innovation Sdn Bhd\MiTS\3.2.x.x

Step 3: Try to ping the server’s address from the client’s machine #

Detailed steps can be found here.

Step 4: Ensuring the client’s machine can be connected to the specific server port using Test-NetConnection #

Detailed steps can be referred to here.

Conclusion: #

It should be noted that as long as you can Test-NetConnection successfully, then the client machine can be connected to the server with no issue.

Unable to connect due to firewall restrictions #

Note:

Ensuring a successful Test-NetConnection is crucial for users to connect to the server. We recommend that users initially allow all necessary connections to confirm successful Test-NetConnection, and only then tighten security settings, making sure that connectivity is disrupted in the process.
