Move Selected Network Entities #
When two utility networks come from drawings that use different coordinate systems, one network may appear far away from its correct position after both are brought into the same MiTS project. You can reposition the required network without translating every other network in the project.
This feature is available in StormSync, Sewerage and Water Reticulation Module.
Move a network by point #
-
On the Main ribbon, click any Utility module (StormSync/ Sewerage/ Water Reticulation)
-
Click either Node or Drain/Sewer/Pipe button.
-
Select one or more nodes or pipes to move. The selected entities determine which network will be moved.
-
Click Translation icon dropdown on the spread-input toolbar and select Specify Base Point.
Alternatively, right-click the selected entities and select Translate Selected > Specify Base Point.
Select option from the translation dropdown option
Select option from right-click context menu
- Choose the required network move option from the dialog box:

| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Move Entire Network | – Moves every node and pipe connected to the selection. – A separate, disconnected network in the same module stays where it is |
| Move Selected Entities Only | – Moves only the selected nodes or pipes and the endpoint geometry required by those pipes. – Unselected pipes/links connected to the selected entities will be stretched accordingly to maintain connectivity |
-
Specify base point for the move.
-
Specify a second point.
Alternatively, enter absolute coordinates, relative coordinates, or a vector. The node(s) or pipe(s) you selected are moved to a new location determined by the distance and direction between the first and second points.
Move a network by displacement (X/Y offset) #
-
On the Main ribbon, click any Utility module (StormSync/Sewerage/Water Reticulation)
-
Click either Node or Drain/Sewer/Pipe button.
-
Select one or more nodes or pipes to move. The selected entities determine which network will be moved.
-
Click Translation icon dropdown on the spread-input toolbar and select Specify X/Y Offset Coordinates.
Alternatively, right-click the selected entities and select Translate Selected > Specify X/Y Offset Coordinates.
Select option from the translation dropdown option
Select option from right-click context menu
- Choose the required network move option from the dialog box:

| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Move Entire Network | – Moves every node and pipe connected to the selection. – A separate, disconnected network in the same module stays where it is |
| Move Selected Entities Only | – Moves only the selected node(s) or pipe(s) and the endpoint geometry required by those pipes. – Unselected pipes/links connected to the selected entities will be stretched accordingly to maintain connectivity |
-
Enter the X Offset (m) and Y Offset (m), then click OK.
The selected node(s) or pipe(s) are moved to a new location determined by the relative coordinate values you enter.
MiTS will use the coordinate values as a relative displacement. For example, an X offset of
10and a Y offset of-5moves the entities 10 m in the positive X direction and 5 m in the negative Y direction.
Move using the Action ribbon #
For graphical positioning;
- Select the required nodes or pipes and go to Actions tab:
- Select Translation to enter an X/Y displacement, or By Point to define the movement using reference points.

- Double click the drawing area
- In the entity-selection dialog, choose Move Entire Network or Move Selected Entities Only.
- Complete the selected move operation.
How Node and Pipe selections behave #
- In Node input, the selected nodes form the starting selection.
- In Pipe input, the selected pipes form the starting selection. Their endpoint nodes and intermediate points move with them so that the selected pipes retain their shape.
- When a moved node is shared with an unselected pipe, that unselected pipe remains connected and may stretch to the node’s new position.
Notes and limitations #
- Move Entire Network means the connected network containing the selection, not every disconnected network in the module.
- The move changes plan coordinates only; it does not change pipe invert levels or node ground levels.
- Drainage catchments are not included when moving selected network nodes or pipes.
- Platforms continue to use their existing Move Selected workflow, including its Z-offset option.
