Superelevation

Superelevation Input #

Select “ Superelevation” and view the Superelevation Properties Spread Input. Users may change the crossfall and Superelevation rate from the Spread Input. The Proposed Superelevation Rate is the rate of superelevation proposed to users with consideration of the design speed and radius of curve.

Curve Widening #

By default, the proposed curve widening is calculated based on AASHTO guidelines as per the image shown below.

Users can opt for the curve widening to be calculated based on ATJ guidelines by changing the curve widening table under the (1) parameter settings or (2) at the RHS Properties.

Under Parameter Settings: #

Options > Project Parameters > Road > Design > Curve Widening Table Option > Click dropdown button > Choose REAM GL 2/2002 > OK

To look at the table referred for the calculation, go to Curve Widening Table > Click Edit as shown below. This is applicable for both options of the curve widening table.

At RHS Properties tab (Starting MiTS 2.9.31.0) : #

Road > Superelevation > Properties Tab > Curve Widening > Click Drop-down button > Choose REAM GL 2/2002

Also starting from MiTS 2.9.31.0, the proposed curve widening based on REAM GL 2/2002 can be interpolated.

Road > Superelevation > Properties Tab > Curve Widening > Interpolation > Click Drop-down button > Choose Nearest/Clamp Up/ Clamp Down

Note:

**Nearest : curve widening value is taken from the nearest road width stated in Table 4.9

**Clamp up : curve widening value is taken from the larger road width in Table Table 4.9

**Clamp down : curve widening value is taken from the smaller road width in Table 4.9

Tick the checkbox to apply the curve widening . The value of the curve widening now can be edited.
