Customizing Mark for Nodes and Edges in Utility Modules

1 min read

The Running Network/Running Pipe system feature available for our utility modules has been improved with customization of the prefixes for nodes and edges on a per running network basis. With this feature, users can precisely and easily prefix nodes and edges in the utility modules, ensuring each running network is easily distinguishable based on the pattern of the labels.

Customization of the prefixes can be defined under the Project Parameters for each of the utility modules.

Defining Custom Prefixes #

Drainage Module #

  1. Navigate to Options > Project Parameters/Project Settings

  1. Expand Drainage > Expand Input > Running Network

  1. Input the Running Network Name, Node Mark Prefix, and Edge Prefix > Press Enter > Click OK

Note: Do exclude the sequential numbers from the prefix, as the software will automatically append numbers to the prefixes upon input.

Sewerage Module #

  1. Navigate to Options > Project Parameters/Project Settings

  1. Expand Sewerage > Expand Input > Click on Running Network

  1. Input the Running Network Name, Node Mark Prefix, and Edge Prefix > Press Enter > Click OK

Note: Do exclude the sequential numbers from the prefix, as the software will automatically append numbers to the prefixes upon input.

Water Reticulation Module #

  1. Navigate to Options > Project Parameters/Project Settings

  1. Expand Water Ret > Expand Input > Click on Running Pipe System

  1. Input Running Pipe Name, Node Mark Prefix, and Pipe Prefix > Press Enter > Click OK

  1. Not only that, users may choose the custom color and display option for custom appearance which can be referred to here.

Note: Do exclude the sequential numbers from the prefix, as the software will automatically append numbers to the prefixes upon input.

How to Set Defined Prefixes for Imported and Direct Input Network? #

With the introduction of the custom prefix feature, we have incorporated a function in the Properties Grid known as ‘Active Running Network’ or ‘Active Running Pipe System’.

This function allows users to choose a designated network or system for their ongoing input within the module. This selection enables the software to automatically label the nodes and edges according to the specified network or system.

Click on any of the utility modules (i.e. Drain) > Go to Right-Hand-Side Grid Properties

Steps for Imported Network #

  1. Go to the utility module > Go to Properties Grid > Select the Running Network or Running Pipe System

  1. Click Import button > Choose the settings and layers for import > Click Import

  1. Go to the Drains/Pipes Spread Input > Go to the last column for Running Network/Running Pipe

  1. All the imported edges are already grouped under the selected network/pipe system. However, the marks for nodes and edges are still following the default of 1,2,3…

  1. To update the marking, click on Renumber Node and Renumber Edges

Steps for Direct Input Network #

  1. Go to the utility module > Go to Properties Grid > Select the Running Network or Running Pipe System

  1. Click on Drains/Pipes > Input the network according to the design

  1. The nodes and edges marking will automatically follow the defined prefixes under the Parameters setting.
