Update in MiTS 3's Water Reticulation Module

The Water Reticulation module enables users to design and analyze water distribution networks efficiently. It allows for pipe sizing, pressure analysis, and flow calculations to ensure optimal water supply across a project. Users can define demand patterns, node pressures, and pipe materials to meet industry standards. With MiTS 3, designing a reliable and compliant water distribution system is now more intuitive and accurate.

New Headloss Model: Chezy-Manning Equation

The Water Reticulation module in MiTS 3 now supports the Chezy-Manning equation as a new headloss model. This implementation enhances the accuracy of flow calculations by considering pipe roughness and hydraulic characteristics. With this update, users can achieve more precise pressure and velocity analysis, improving the overall reliability of water distribution system designs.

Dropdown Selection for Flow Type Displayed on Input Screen

The Result Viewer in MiTS 3 will display results based on a single flow type, with Peak Flow set as the default to prevent confusion. A new dropdown selection has been added at the top of the Result Viewer panel, allowing users to choose which flow type they want to view. The Input Screen and PipeNodes tree will dynamically update based on the user’s selection, ensuring consistency across the interface.

Custom & Minor Loss in Water Reticulation

Users can input a Custom Loss (in meters) at each node, representing an equivalent head loss for example, a custom value of X meters is treated as if the water is being lifted X meters at that location. This input is included in the residual pressure analysis, applied at both ends of the pipe, and is useful for modelling special conditions like booster effects or localized energy drops.

Additionally, Minor Loss Coefficients can now be specified for each pipe to account for losses due to valves, bends, fittings, and abrupt changes in flow direction.
