# Creating Drainage Network System

Using the “**Node**” and “**Drain**” buttons, a drainage network can be easily created on the Input Plan.

# **Node**

Input the node on the Input Plan by clicking the “**Node**” button.

![](https://i0.wp.com/mes100.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/NODE-BUTTON.png?w=1080&ssl=1)

To input the node, users have to click once on the Input Screen. Then, users can start to locate the nodes on the Input Plan.

**Note: Object Snapping**

Object snapping can be called out either by Ctrl + right-mouse click or by clicking the ‘Snap’ button.

# **Drain**

Input the drain on the Input Plan by clicking the “**Drain**” button.

To input drains, users have to connect one node to another. Click on the Input Plan while drawing drain will also generate nodes simultaneously.

To model a drain without a node, users have to click on “SHIFT + left click mouse”.

Instead of clicking, the drain points can also be typed in as coordinates (`x,y`), or as a length and angle (`45<80`). Typing a point as `x,y,z` sets the ground level of the new node there. See [Drive Inputs by Typing Coordinates, Lengths and Angles](https://mes100.com/docs/drive-inputs-by-typing-coordinates-lengths-and-angles/).

## **Importing Drain**

To import drains from ACAD, click ‘**Import Drains**’ and select the layer that represents your drain network, and click ‘**Import**’.

### **Import Drain with ‘Z-values’**

When importing drain, users are now able to import the ‘Z-values’ as well.

Note: Z-values imported are the drain invert level (IL)

If the intention is to iterate the drain invert level (IL), users may check ‘**iterate IL**’

## **Features of Drain**

Click on the drain and right-click to open the features list.
