# Fixing “Road Needs Closing” Errors with Close Road Autofix

## When you’ll see this

If a road’s start and end points are almost — but not exactly — coincident (closer than 0.001 apart) and haven’t been merged into a single closed loop, the Verification panel flags it:

> The distance of start point and end point is < 0.001 but the points are not merged to form a closed road.

>
> Suggestion: Right-click this warning to merge the points and close the road.

This is common after tracing or importing a road alignment where the drawn start/end points don’t land on exactly the same coordinate.

![Right-clicking the "road needs closing" warning and choosing Resolve](https://i0.wp.com/mes100.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/rightclick-merge.png?w=1080&ssl=1)

## After closing the road

Right after closing a road this way, you may see a separate “makes a straight line” message at the newly-closed joint. That’s expected, and covered in its own article: [Understanding the “Makes a Straight Line” Warning After Closing a Road](https://mes100.com/docs/close-road-straight-line-warning/).

For other verification messages MiTS can flag, Autofix, or Resolve, see [Verification Messages in MiTS](https://mes100.com/docs/verification-messages-in-mits/).
